Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Center for Technology and School Change (CTSC) at Teachers College, Columbia University is hiring a Doctoral Research Assistant to support a new, four-year partnership with The City College of New York. The goal of the WELCOME project, as funded by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE Award No. P116M230147), is to develop and study a learning community model for first year students. The initiative replicates a Tier-1 approved What Works Clearinghouse (WWC, USDOE) study, and the related "Opening Doors" learning community model, implemented at Kingsborough Community College (see, Sommo et al., 2012; Weiss et al., 2014).

The Doctoral Research Assistant will support the collection and analysis of evaluation data in service of the related project, and will work with senior Center staff to consult on the research component, as needed. Sample activities include, logic model design, instrument development, data collection, analysis, and report writing. This individual in this position will also assist the Center's Director of Research and Evaluation in coordinating the overall partnership, and will participate in ongoing meetings with the larger internal and external project teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a TC student enrolled in a doctoral program in a relevant field of study.

Prior research experience and/or coursework in qualitative or quantitative methodology.

Strong writing, communication and organizational skills; Working knowledge of sample qualitative and quantitative data analysis software (e.g. NVivo, R, SPSS, Stata).

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of instructional shifts and services in higher education.
