Mechanical Laboratory Technician

Description:
The Laboratory technician is a critical role within the Surgical RD&E team. This position requires laboratory experience and a high attention to detail. He or she will lead laboratory projects of varying size and impact across a diverse set of medical devices. This will require refined communication skills (verbal and written) to understand and execute test methods.
This individual will be required to interact closely with other RD&E team members as well as Quality to properly document and share test results. Main job responsibilities will be to utilize an instron tensile to conduct durability, strength, barrier type properties & performance testing on surgical & patient drapes. A tensile test, also known as a tension test, is one of the most fundamental and common types of mechanical testing. A tensile test applies tensile (pulling) force to a material and measures the specimen's response to the stress. By doing this, tensile tests determine how strong a material is and how much it can elongate. This position will require the applicant to plan his/her daily/weekly output which will be used to estimate overall lab schedule and be incorporated into project timelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
1+ years of laboratory experience preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Instron, tensile, destructive material testing, adhesive testing is highly preferred
Medical device experience
Experience with GLP documentation
