Join us as our new Survey Party Chief
We are looking for another member to join our Survey and Positioning Team in Houston, Texas. Our working environment consists of highly educated, skilled, positive, innovative, and enthusiastic employees.
The function of a Survey Party Chief is to implement and maintain survey standards throughout the offshore operations and provide guidance and support to the Survey team. This includes a full understanding of the flow of data from the calibration at the project mobilization through Logging and QC of all data. A full appreciation of the survey deliverables is required so that on completion of the project, all data will be backed up and submitted to the Project Manager/Onshore Team in the agreed company formats. This position will liiase with the project manager to ensure that the project manager understands the commercial impact of all decisions made offshore.
Requirements
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Development of project procedures and project preparation
- Management of DS project work scope and adhering to the contractual aspects of the project offshore
- Management of Offshore team in the field
- Management of subcontractor's field team
- Daily communications with Project Manager
- Liaising with client representatives
- Liaising with senior vessel crew
- Cooperate with supervisors and managers on Health safety and environmental matters and not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their Health and Safety
- Take part in hazard identification and risk assessment as required by Offshore Manager
- Report all Health, Safety & Environmental concerns to the Offshore Manager
- Complete additional HSSE training to include leadership communication, conflict resolution, team building, workplace hazard recognition, recognizing signs of substance abuse, incident investigation & reporting
- Responsible for ensuring the work is performed with adequate equipment and personnel
- Responsible for ensuring all personnel meet company requirements for operational capability, competence, and health and safety
- Responsible for carrying out offshore appraisals and encouraging / ensuring team development
- Responsible for delegation of responsibility in accordance with company procedures, when appropriate
- Responsible for daily/end of project reporting
- Responsible for Offshore QHSE
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree level or equivalent Subsea operations knowledge
Experience / Knowledge:
- Nominally 48 months experience, including 400 operational days offshore as a Senior Surveyor or Senior Survey Engineer
- Qualified and Experienced in Surveying
- Appropriate offshore medical and offshore survival course
- Incident Investigation & Reporting
- Recognizing Signs of Substance Abuse
- Leadership Communication
Work Environment
- Works in office environment approximately 10% using standard office equipment
- Spends time sitting in an aircraft varying from 1 hour to 12 hours for national/international travel
- Spends time in offshore environment and offsite contractor locations 80% of the time which can involve moderate exposure to noise levels and machinery
- While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, kneel, talk, and hear, use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, and controls
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include near and far vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Shift work week offshore is 84 hours (7 days a week 12-hour shift)
