Position Details Position Purpose

The successful candidate will be entrusted with the critical mission of improving the academic advising system at Oakland University, aligning it with the institution's strategic goal of student success. This role involves collaboration across academic affairs and student services divisions to establish a comprehensive vision aimed at mitigating equity gaps, thus fostering higher retention and degree completion rates. The vision entails creating a robust advising community with a structure and resources that accommodate diverse student needs, with special emphasis on underrepresented minority students and first-generation students. This position will be tasked with facilitating seamless exploration and migration from the First-Year Advising Center to academic majors within the Colleges of Arts and Science and professional schools-Business, Nursing, Engineering, Education & Human Services, Health Sciences, and Music, Theater & Dance.
