The Director of Research oversees research on community and campus initiatives focused on human flourishing and social mobility. This role involves leading research studies on empowering concepts such as self-determination and economic freedom, as well as addressing social and psychological issues like social and emotional development, neglect, poverty, and neurodiversity. You will lead an interdisciplinary team of full-time faculty from different colleges, adjuncts, student workers and community subject matter experts that all have a passion to research and document best practices. This role requires you to strategically align with projects across GCU activities, both on campus and within the local community.

The Director of Research will explore aspects of counseling, social work, social and emotional development, neglect, poverty, economic freedom, learning disabilities, neurodiversity, and self-determination. The role requires a cross-disciplinary perspective and scholarly leadership of coordinated studies to assess the impact of GCU's community and campus initiatives, including K12 Learning Lounge (academic tutoring), Fostering Futures (foster children living on campus), Lopes Academy (neurodiverse young adults), Canyon Rising (first generation college student scholarships & support), and Changing Lives Outreach (K12 psychoeducational support), among others. What you will do:

* Lead Research Initiatives: Direct comprehensive research studies on human flourishing and social mobility, focusing on key areas such as self-determination, economic freedom, social and emotional development, neglect, poverty, and neurodiversity. Ensure that research methodologies and approaches are robust and align with the latest academic standards.


* Lead a Small Research Team: Manage and oversee a small team of researchers, ensuring projects are progressing according to plan and within budget. Provide leadership and guidance to foster a collaborative and productive research environment.


* Mentorship of Graduate Assistants: Actively mentor graduate assistants and student workers, providing academic guidance and professional development to help them succeed in their roles and future careers.


* Strategic Project Alignment: Coordinate and align research projects with broader Grand Canyon University (GCU) activities. Work collaboratively with various departments and faculties to integrate research efforts with campus and community initiatives.


* Community Engagement and Collaboration: Engage with the local community to integrate their perspectives and needs into research projects. Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to enhance the impact and relevance of research outcomes, promoting social change and community development. Publish/present and represent GCU at conferences.



What you need:

* Doctoral degree in social sciences, public health, education, or related field from an accredited institution.


* Minimum of 5-years of experience teaching and/or administration in higher education.


* Demonstrated record of scholarship, including multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at academic conferences


* Program evaluation experience preferred.


* Analytical and project/process management skills.


* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate complex information in a professional, academic manner with the university community, business partners, administration, and students.


* Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
