Position Summary: Under the direction of the Branch Executive the incumbent develops, organizes, and implements high quality wellness programing in accordance with the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta's mission. Responsible for program budget, development, and control.

Supervision Exercised: 10+ part-time employees during peak season.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Typical Working Conditions: Position is equally divided between wellness floor and office environments. Requires automobile travel to branches, training, seminars, or workshops. Bending, stooping, lifting to 50 lbs., verbal communication, hearing, seeing, 40% keyboard input, some sitting.

Job Segments:

* Directs and supervises wellness activities to meet YMCA objectives. Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
* Maintain a high profile among members for the purpose of being a role model of health and fitness.
* Develops creative, innovative programs, training and classes within the wellness and group exercise departments.
* Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
* Manages budgets related to the position. Ensures programs operate within budget and that program fees are collected.
* Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
* Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities, equipment, and grounds. Ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
* Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
* Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
* Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
* Assists with Program Committee meetings.
* Attends Cabinet meetings as required.
* Compiles program statistics and surveys. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
* Accepts and demonstrates the Character Development Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
* Actively participates and supports the annual scholarship campaign.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.
