This is a grant funded position. This employee is responsible for greeting individuals visiting Career Center and accurately assessing their needs. Based on the identified needs this employee will: Make appropriate job or community resource referrals, Schedule applicable services, provide required forms with instructions on how to complete and enter required data/documentation into the NCWorks.gov database. This employee will also be knowledgeable of all Center programs and services to give correct information when communicating with job seekers and answering their questions. This employee will also assist in marketing & coordinating Center programs, events and services to job seekers and employers by using social media and conducting outreach calls and e-mails. This employee will assist job seekers with job search activities, online applications, resume preparation, and various other job search related activities. All activities will be accurately recorded in the ncworks.gov database to ensure documentation of services.
Duties
* Greets customers and serves as the first point of contact upon entry to the Career Center.
* Accurately assesses purpose of customer's visit and makes appropriate referrals to other resources or begins the ncworks.gov registration process. Which includes creating an account for the customer, completing their profile, employment history and making sure they can log into the system before they leave. A job search demonstration using the system may also be provided at this time.
* Makes appropriate referrals & schedule applicable appointments.
* Completes potential candidate search for each local job order using the NC Works online database and then notifies each potential candidate by phone, email, or NC Works online system of the job opening.
* Conducts outreach by making outbound calls or sending e-mails to individuals who have recently registered, logged-in, or exited from the NC Works online system.
* Accurately records and writes a case note for each activity/service provided to job seekers and employers in the NC Works online system.
* Collects and prepares information for reports using word processing, spread sheet, & file maintenance programs.
* Performs all required documentation and file maintenance in NCWorks online.
* Assists Coordinator with the creating/editing and distribution of marketing information, bulletin boards and other promotional materials for Center.
* Utilizes social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn to promote employment opportunities, Center activities, local employers and events.
* Completes weekly follow-up contact for individuals who have registered, logged-in or recently exited the ncworks.gov system.
* Maintains internal job board by rotating current flyers and event posters.
* Maintains community services resource list.
* Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
* Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
* Must have a minimum of a High school diploma or its equivalent;
* Must have at least two years of part-time or equivalent customer service work experience;
* Must have a minimum of two years of part-time or equivalent office support/administrative work experience;
* Must have at least one year of part-time or equivalent work experience with database administration.
Preferred Qualifications
* A.A.S. in Business Administration, Office Systems Technology, Human Services, Social Work, or related field.
* ·Experience in workforce development field.
* Experience working in Career Centers.
* Program administration experience.
* Experience working with diverse populations.
* Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
