Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Intern Position Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Intern will be responsible for providing technical support focusing on day-to-day activities that are compliance, safety, or environmental related. The intern will assist the EHS department with projects from scope definition through implementation.  This internship will be located at our Brooklyn Park, MN facility and make periodic visits to southeastern Wisconsin, visiting our sites based in Burlington WI and Waukesha WI.


EHS Intern Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal customer technical support such as participating/leading incident investigations, assisting the emergency response team, conducting equipment reviews and audits.
  • Assist in the implementation of EHS programs, plans and procedures guiding regulatory compliance, prevention of undesired consequences and risk reduction strategies.
  • Develop working knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations as well as consensus standards.
  • Assist in identifying, planning, and leading EHS projects and actions to minimize the risk of incidents.
  • Understand and manage risks associated with your role and those that impact organizational objectives.

EHS Intern Qualification:

  • Enrollment in four-year a degree program in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, team player, and have a positive attitude.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
