Who we're looking for:

A passionate, dedicated, and motivated mental health provider and leader who wants to be part of a growing, collaborative team. The Executive Clinical Director ("ECD") is responsible for and oversees all aspects of treatment within multiple facilities and/or programs, including all intensive outpatient and outpatient programs, in-person, and telehealth. The ECD is responsible for supervision of all clinical staff and non-clinical staff working within the programs. Having strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills are a must for this important role. This includes the ability to analyze complex issues, develop effective strategies, and implement solutions to improve clinical operations and outcomes.

As the ECD, you are the leader of your programs and facility located in Princeton, New Jersey. You should have fun in your role while creating meaningful experiences for your staff and providing the highest quality mental healthcare to our clients. This position is a full-time position and reports to the Executive Director. This position is mostly in-person, and due to the nature of the role you may be required to travel to multiple facilities, and/or work several evening hours.

The ECD should have a strong understanding of evidence-based practices in behavioral health. This includes staying current with research and best practices in the field, implementing evidence-based treatment modalities, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. The ECD should have the ability to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, which is crucial. The ideal candidate should have experience developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance, conducting audits and quality assessments, and addressing any non-compliance issues that arise.

What you'll be doing:

Administrative Oversight
  • Responsible for designing and implementing evidence-based clinical programs and services that meet the needs of individuals with behavioral health issues, balanced with utilizing cutting edge and/or holistic service approaches. This could include, but not limited to, developing care plans, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Oversee a team of clinical and administrative professionals. This involves partnering with our Training and Human Resources professionals to recruit, hire, train, retain, and evaluate staff members, as well as provide guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Must stay up to date with federal, state, local, and insurer regulations pertaining to behavioral health services.
  • Ensure that all clinical programs and services are in compliance with these regulations and maintain appropriate documentation and reporting for audits.
  • Lead efforts to monitor and improve the quality of behavioral health services, including implementing performance improvement initiatives and tracking key performance indicators. This involves analyzing data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate across cross functional teams. Work closely with other departments, such as finance, operations, business development, technology, and human resources, to coordinate and integrate behavioral health services within the organization. This includes budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
  • Responsible for providing the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the programs has the proper operational systems and controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people to effectively operate the programs while ensuring clinical excellence, financial strength, and operational efficiency.
  • Provides ongoing evaluation and provides performance feedback to all clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Maintains quality, confidentiality, and continuity of all required documentation and records.
  • Act as a program liaison to relationship partners and community groups.
  • May be required to provide supervision to clinical interns and assist with coordinating internship programs.
  • Promote excellent customer service to all clients and community partners.
  • Performs other related assignments as directed by leadership.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • May be required to help facilitate traditional intensive outpatient program and outpatient program services for substance use disorder, mental health conditions, and co-occurring conditions. This includes group therapy, individual and family therapy, biopsychosocial assessments, as well as case management for a caseload of individual client services.
  • The ECD is expected to provide an average of at least 3-5 hours of direct care clinical activities per week.
  • Responsible for assessing client for substance abuse and mental health needs using DSM criteria.
  • Completion of Initial and Follow Up Assessments for clients, as well as assessing for appropriate level of care.
  • Obtain and review records relevant to the current treatment episode, and contact to relevant referral sources, family or outside systems as needed.
  • Prepare (as needed) and maintain treatment plan and necessary revisions, in conjunction with the case manager.
  • Coordinate with discharge planner regarding continuing care and recommendations for discharge.
  • Documentation of all counseling services in clinical records.
  • Maintain all necessary logs required for administrative tracking.
  • Complete relevant state-required work for clients on your caseload.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team assigned to the client and participate in case management meetings.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling.
  • Communicate with family members, attorneys, EAPS, doctors or other outside resources, as needed, within provision of consent to release documents, and document all communications.
  • Initiate releases, contracts for safety or any other necessary documents as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and other functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:
  • A master's or doctoral degree in a relevant field is required, such as psychology, counseling, social work, or psychiatric nursing.
  • Candidates must have an unrestricted license in NJ as a LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psy.D., PH.D., with additional certifications or specialized training such as EMDR & LAC a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience working in the field of adult alcohol/drug abuse treatment or related social services delivery field.
  • Experience with reporting methods and analysis of population health outcomes.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Experience with workforce management, evaluating staffing capacity, and development.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing a department budget
