  • The RN strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act and BBGH policies. The RN ensures practice is in accordance with standard of care and competency required for the area of practice. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done, in part, through participation in performance improvement initiatives. The RN provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care, the RN will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes. Patient care may be provided in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
  • "Nurses practice with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every person, and their primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community or population." Based on a partnership guided by the healthcare consumer's and family's needs and preferences, the registered nurse is integral to patient care quality, satisfaction, and the effective and efficient use of health care resources. Registered nurses are qualified and educated for the role of care coordination, especially with high risk and vulnerable populations (ANA Code of Ethics with Interpretive Statements, 2015).
  • The RN has a responsibility to act as educator to their peers, patients, and their families. All aspects of the RN's performance supports service excellence and a healing environment. The RN identifies and communicated needed unit resources or equipment to be included in budgets.
  • Due to changing organizational needs, work hours may vary.
