Will consider an experienced Surgical Tech with 1 year of experience that would like to learn Cardiac Thoracic Surgery.
This position is full time rotating shift. Monday through Friday 6:30am to 2:30pm and required call. Candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for call purposes.
Sentara RMH Medical Center is a 238-bed, Magnet designated hospital located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Harrisonburg, Rockingham County is a progressive and picturesque location that rests in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, which is known world-wide for its beauty, including the renowned Skyline Drive, which winds through Shenandoah National Park. Department Overview:
We are made up of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR. Surgical Tech will work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses.
Surgical Technologist will aid the surgeon and operating room nurse in preparing for and performing surgeries.
Surgical tech prepares operating room instrument set up for the procedure.
Will help prepare patient and pass surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the surgery.
Surgical Tech knows the specific uses of all equipment & supplies used for surgical procedure. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure and displays dexterity of the required instrumentation.
Surgical Tech sees safety and efficient performance of the surgical procedure, tracks instruments and supplies and sees that all equipment is accounted for after the surgery.
Surgical Tech identifies emergency situations and uses sound judgement in a calm & efficient manner.
Will be responsible for cleaning and stocking the operating room for the next procedure.
Required Education/Certifications/License:
* Trade School Graduate - Surgical Technologist
* Corpsman experience or operating room procedures from military or vocation training program will be highly considered
* Cardiac Operating Room Surgical Tech experience required
* Certified Surgical Tech required
* VA Surg Techs are required to be licensed with the VBOM
* BLS Certification
