Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)

Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join our healthcare team. The SPT plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of medical procedures by meticulously sterilizing and preparing medical equipment, instruments, and supplies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting healthcare professionals and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Inspect, assemble, and package sterilized instruments and equipment according to established protocols, ensuring completeness, functionality, and sterility.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilization trays, following manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor and document sterilization cycles, including temperature, pressure, and exposure times, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and infection control protocols.
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing supplies, as well as maintaining accurate records of stock levels and expiration dates.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, surgical teams, and other personnel to meet the sterile processing needs of various departments and facilities.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training programs to stay abreast of advances in sterile processing techniques, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures, including safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and confidentiality guidelines, to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Respond promptly to requests for sterile instruments and supplies, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and patient care needs.
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives by participating in process audits, performance evaluations, and corrective action plans as needed.
