Job SummaryOptimum management of the Anesthesia Department in accordance with Medical Center Policy and medical and technical direction from the Anesthesiologists.
Responsibilities
Plan, Direct, Implement, Coordinate and Improve Services of Assigned Department with the focus on four major categories: CRNA Staffing/Coverage, Technology Systems, SRNA's Education/School Responsibilities and Scope of Practice for the CRNA's.CRNA Staffing/Coverage1. Manages the human and material resources involved with the provision of anesthesia services in accordance with Medical Center policy and medical direction from the Anesthesiologists.2. Provides effective coverage for all areas designated as requiring Anesthetist's skills.3. Responsible for controlled drug distribution and recording.4. Responsible for hiring, discipline, continuing education, appraisals, and capital and expense budgets.5. Collaborates with benefits and compensation for FMV salary & wages6. *Leads are responsible for day to day discipline within their hospitals.7. Serve as a first line resource to the Lead CRNA in the event a matter related to clinical instruction or clinical evaluation occurs.8. Maintains policies and procedures in DMS9. Responsible for all safety reporting and grievances (oversees Leads CRNA responses)10. Responsible for insuring all CRNA's maintain all licensure, certification and regulatory requirements.11. Performs clinical anesthesia duties for Nurse Anesthetists12. Liaison between contracted anesthesiologist group and CAMC to insure proper function & staffing of the anesthesia department.13. Performs other related duties as assigned. Technology System1. Responsible for ensuring that the electronic medical record meets all CMS/DNV standards2. Responsible for working closely with the revenue cycle group to ensure charges are correct and3. crossing within the system 4. Resource for Information Technology Group when changes are needed in the Electronic Medical Record5. Subject Matter Expert for the anesthesia documentation system (Electronic Medical Record) SRNA's Education/School Responsibilities1. Liaison to the School of Anesthesia2. Serve on committees in the school.3. Supervise the overall clinical instruction of SRNAs within all departments.4. Ensure that all CRNA and Anesthesiologist staff are appropriately supervising SRNAs during all phases of anesthesia care and in all anesthesia related activities.5. Ensure that appropriate learning opportunities are readily available to SRNAs in a conducive learning environment.6. Functions as Nurse Clinical Director of the School of Anesthesia.7. Participate in constructive discussion regarding the SRNA's clinical performance at the request of the lead CRNA.8. Informing the Anesthesia School Faculty and/or Anesthesia School Program Director of pertinent SRNA performance9. Maintain all requirements of the Council of Accreditation for the School of AnesthesiaCRNA Scope of Practice1. Responsible for maintaining CRNA Scope of practice that best fits the needs of the organization
