The work we do, changing peoples' lives and building families, offers stimulation, challenge, and personal reward.

Orlando Avenue Surgery Center (OASC) is a state-of-the-art surgery center located in Winter Park, FL. OASC is a multi-specialty surgery center with a focus on women's health/GYN. We have an immediate opening for a PRN Sterile Processing Technician. This is a challenging position with a surgery center that continues to grow.

Responsibilities

* Responsible for the care and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies in accordance with proper aseptic technique and principles of sterilization and instrument handling
* Maintains established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment. Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
* Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
* Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
* Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
* Performs the appropriate testing of all sterilizers and keeps accurate records.
* Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.

Qualifications

* High School graduate or equivalent.
* Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent experience in hospital materials management department.
* Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
* Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
