Job Summary

Memorial Hermann Katy Breast Care Center is actively seeking an experienced Senior Breast Ultrasound Technologist.

* Full-time, Day Shift - 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
* Breast registry through ARDMS required
* Fast paced Breast Center, must be able to multi-task
* Memorial Hermann provides employees with a well-rounded benefit package that covers your physical, emotional and financial health. This position performs ultrasound procedures to be used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The senior technologist serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to staff. Also assists management with supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Sonography Technology.

Licenses/Certifications:

* Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support, required.


* One (1) of the following required (some facilities may require more than one (1) certification, depending on the needs of the facility and nature of the job):


* Registered Vascular Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-VS) or


* Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or


* Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or


* Registered Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-S) or


* Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or


* Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or


* Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or


* Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International or


* Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International; or


* Registered Breast Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-BS)


* For facilities performing routine vascular studies, incumbent must be registered for vascular ultrasound. Must obtain vascular registry by the end of the month following 12 months of hire/transfer date. Registry options include: ARRT (VS), CCI (RVS) and ARDMS (RVT).



Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

* Four (4) years of prior experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.


* Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions.



Principal Accountabilities

* Performs ultrasound / sonography procedures on patients: Prepares patients for the exam, explains procedure, positions patients for the exam, selects appropriate imaging techniques, and ensures technical quality of the images.


* Helps maintain appropriate patient flow and ensures delivery of quality services in the imaging department.


* Demonstrates excellent technical skills. Acts as a resource and mentor to staff and less experienced technologists. Introduces and demonstrates new techniques to the other technologists.


* Reviews incomplete exam list and unsigned report status routinely.


* Functions as a liaison between physicians, technologists and department support staff.


* Enters and monitors patient data and health history as its pertinent to the exam being performed.


* Performs quality assurance on ultrasound equipment. Recommends equipment modifications. Identifies and helps to resolve equipment malfunctions. Completes initial and renewal application for ACR and any other accreditation.


* Maintains safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department.


* Helps schedule technologists to ensure appropriate staffing for expected patient volume.


* Intervenes with patients to help resolve complaints and issues.


* Responsible for supply management.


* Takes emergency call within the department.


* Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.


* Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.


* Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
