Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred. At least 3 years of experience in Academic Counseling at a Division I institution.
Position Summary
Assist in the development and implementation of all services related to academic planning, academic support, academic major and career counseling, academic monitoring, personal development and recruiting for student-athletes.
* Provide direct oversight to football athletics academic advising staff; manage an effective process of monitoring student-athlete academic progress, incorporating current best practices in the profession.
* Serve as the advisor to a designated group of football student-athletes and other assigned teams; monitor their academic progress; provide course advisement, career and personal guidance; educate student-athletes on rules of eligibility and personal responsibility.
* Communicate with football and other assigned team coaching staffs through scheduled academic meetings; regularly and promptly share detailed information regarding the ongoing academic progress of assigned student-athletes.
* Serve as an academic liaison to the football program and other assigned team for on-campus recruiting operations. Prepare and update presentation materials for use during prospective student-athletes' visits to campus.
* Promote positive working relationships with college advisors and faculty throughout campus.
* Utilize standard grade reports to communicate student-athlete progress to appropriate constituents.
* Administer the guidelines of the unit's objective-based academic support program, tutorial services and grade report tracking system.
* Support department and campus-wide student success efforts through participation in a variety of department activities and committee work.
* Regularly communicate the progress, outcomes, and direction of work to the Associate Athletics Director - Academics & the Assistant Athletics Director - Academics; make recommendations concerning improvement of programs and services.
* Have a thorough understanding of NCAA legislation, Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) guidelines, and be able to communicate potential outcomes based on a student-athlete's performance.
* Monitor student-athletes' NCAA academic eligibility through the use of University student systems and established internal degree-tracking forms.
* Participate in inclusive excellence events held by the department and make your office a place where inclusive excellence is actively practiced.

* Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
* Multi-task and work within deadlines.
* Ability to monitor students' progress and coordinate their class schedule, tutorial sessions, and development.
* Ability to communicate with coaches, students, tutors and professors.
* Ability to provide academic support and counseling in regard to students' courses and progress towards graduation.
Physical Demands
* Sit for long periods of time.
* Stand during events for long periods of time.
* Lift approximately 10lbs.

Duties/Responsibilities
Monitor academic progress of student athletes, including weekly meetings with student-athletes, daily monitoring of class attendance, academic appointment attendance, and grades. Daily communication with students, coaches, instructors, administrators, parents, and guardians regarding students' progress toward degree and eligibility. Weekly evening coverage. Participate in recruiting events, including evenings and weekends throughout the year.
Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for independent determination of all academic planning and support services for student-athletes in assigned sports. Solely responsible for ensuring students adherence to eligibility for UGA, College, UGAAA, SEC, and NCAA rules and requirements. Take advantage of opportunities to keep up with national industry trends.
Percentage of time 25 Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise a full-time counselor and graduate assistant. Hiring and scheduling for graduate assistant.
Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC, and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to the area of academic advising. Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
