Staff Scientist/Technician - Soldotna, AK

The ideal candidate will join our Petroleum and Petrochemical Services business unit and assist in providing clients across many industries effective, responsive, and safe solutions. In your role, you will provide field support for soil and groundwater remediation implementation, soil and water sample collection, geologic cross section preparation, technical report preparation, project management assistance, data management and interpretation, and field and construction oversight/management. The position requires working at commercial and industrial site locations. Mechanical aptitude, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic is required. Applicants must have basic technical writing skills and a demonstrated commitment to safe operations. This position is also responsible for the administration and stewardship of health and safety programs at active industrial sites and communicating with project management and client(s) concerning site activity. This position will require willingness to travel for field work (less than 20% of work time may include travel). Applicants must have a clean driving record, good technical writing and Microsoft Office skills, and a commitment to safe operations.
The preferred candidate will be based in the Soldotna, AK area.
Required Qualifications
  • 0-5+ years of relevant experience
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and project team members
  • Great employment history with a commitment to safe work practices
  • Initiative and motivation, with an emphasis on completing project deliverables on schedule
  • Dependable, with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluency with Microsoft Excel is preferred. Familiarity with various Microsoft Office programs helpful such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and affiliated applications
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail and accuracy, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
  • A BS degree in environmental science, or related science field preferred but not required
  • Direct industry employment history in environmental field within an industrial setting, or related field.
  • Preferred coursework, projects or internship experience in environmental subjects
  • Direct industry employment history in environmental assessment, within an industrial setting, or a related field
  • Experience leading field events in an industrial setting
