Ben Lee's decades of research and teaching span multiple disciplines and traditions, including linguistic anthropology, analytic and continental philosophy, Chinese aesthetics, contemporary investigations of social and cultural forms, politics, economics, fashion, comparative literature, and derivative finance. As one of the founders of the India-China Institute at the New School, Ben Lee is deeply committed to scholarship, research, collaboration and publication that draws upon and contributes to a vibrant, transcultural community at the New School, across the University.
A graduate student assistant would be expected to be available for the following:
* Liaison with the Provost's office to submit expenses reports,
* Maintain records, manage travel, lodging and expenses for Ben's engagements;
* Navigate platforms for reservations, receipts, and reconciliations (MyDay, Concur);
* Occasional assistance with technology related to meeting and instruction (Zoom, Canvas);
* Correspondence as needed with colleagues, invited guests, publication solicitors, editors and contributors, students and administrators;
* Support for programs across the Google suite (Mail, Drive, Docs, Sheets), Adobe (Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, Creative Cloud), Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Apple (Pages, Keynote, Numbers), though a candidate need not be equally proficient in all;
* Organization of meetings and conferences including booking event spaces, arranging for travel and lodging, catering, and honoraria as needed.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between SENS-UAW, Local 7902 and the University.
