Responsible for officiating youth sport games.

Starting Pay: $18.50

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not all inclusive:

Responsible for enforcing rules/regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially; analyzing situations quickly and objectively and determine proper courses of action to be taken.Provide a safe environment for all participants; enforce all general building policies if applicable; complete any necessary reports and forms, i.e., Accident Reports, etc.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Perform related work as required and assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the direct supervision of the assigned Recreation Coordinator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

INDEPENDENCE OF ACTION:

Work is performed in accordance with established procedures and well-defined standard practices requiring some authority to select which methods are applicable in any given situation.Virtually all work is reviewed regularly while in progress and upon completion for accuracy and quality.Matters not specifically covered in operating instructions are reviewed with the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT:

For outdoor instruction, work will include exposure to all types of weather; to dust, dirt, heat, cold, wetness and humidity.For indoor officiating, if in pool area, environment is hot, humid, noisy and distracting. Work requires extended periods of hearing and speaking in a loud voice for up to an hour or longer at a time; standing, running, walking, reaching; requires a high degree of manual skill and ability to see to observe plays, ability to push, pull, bend, crouch, stoop and carry light objects weighing less than 24 lbs. Work entails working closely with others and working with little to no supervision; requires considerable muscular exertion and/or physical strain and continuous mental and/or visual demand where the flow of work is repetitive or duties are diverse and/or hazardous and require continuous alertness and/or activity.Must be able to work in environment with poor acoustics and an array of distractions; requires excellent organizational and time management skills, public relation skills in handling patrons.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

EQUIPMENT USED:

The ability to properly operate or use the applicable equipment available and necessary to perform the functions of the position, i.e. whistle, pitching machine, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge: - Working knowledge of the sport in which the position is officiating; the rules and interpretation of rules.

Skills: - Demonstrated skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job.

Abilities: - Enforce rules/regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially; analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine proper courses of action to be taken; express ideas clearly and concisely; establish and maintain effective working relationships; successfully pass a police check for any child abuse offenses.

Supplemental Information

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess or obtain an officiating certificate and successfully complete a police check for any child abuse offenses.May be restricted to age requirement as specified by FLSA:

Age 14 - 15 years limited to:School in Session - 3 hours/day; 18 hours/week between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

(06/01 thru Labor Day) - School not in Session - 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week; no later than 9:00 p.m.
