Position Summary
The MSU Primary Care Research Collaborative in the Department of Family Medicine, College of Human Medicine, is seeking a highly motivated research assistant to facilitate and promote practice-based research in primary care practices across Michigan.
Under the supervision of the Director of the MSU Primary Care Research Collaborative, this individual will manage projects and assignments related to the development, implementation, data management, statistical analysis, and dissemination of primary care research for the Collaborative. This individual will collaborate with primary care practices, including the Family Medicine residency programs, to facilitate primary care research. Successful applicants will have a background in epidemiology, biostatistics, primary care, health systems, public health, and/or community health and previous experience with IRB processes, electronic medical records, data analysis and management, and research management.
Specifically, the research assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day research operations for projects conducted by the Collaborative, including communicating with primary care providers and practices to monitor research and data collection progress (electronically and via phone), answering data collection and analysis-related questions, and ensure timely progress and completion of research projects.
Duties will include project and data management, conducting statistical analyses, preparing data for presentation and dissemination, and conducting literature reviews. This individual will also contribute to manuscript preparation and other work in support of the timely dissemination of research findings for the Collaborative. This individual will travel to primary care practices across MSU's community campuses as needed to ensure timely research progress. The applying individual must have experience in academic writing, data management, statistical analysis, and working with research collaborators.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or related science field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in overseeing research projects and laboratory operations, operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment, performing specialized and difficult analytical and research techniques, and designing research experiments in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field; experience in statistical methods, data & project management, and data analysis of epidemiologic or clinical study data; experience in disseminating research in the form of presentations and/or peer-reviewed journal publications.
