As an intern, you will get the opportunity to function as a dedicated processing assistant to support the efforts of the Managed Services Outsourcing (MSO) team. You will be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and timely on-line sales and use tax (SUT) filings and payments. This internship is an excellent opportunity for those looking to get a glimpse into the tax industry. While you'll be guided by experienced professionals, we encourage initiative and values input from every team member.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support the tax team in preparing SUT tax returns and other required documents using tax software systems
* Collaborate with MSO team members to assist in the submission of returns and payments
* Enter and manage data with utmost accuracy ensuring all information is correct and up to date
* Participate in other projects or duties such as preparing and filing new jurisdictional sales tax registrations for clients
* Track and respond to notices from taxing jurisdictions, ensuring proper documentation and timely resolution

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Must manage time and priorities effectively by completing tasks in a timely manner.
* Must be detailed and results oriented
* Must be able to work under tight monthly deadlines, with strong organizational skills
* Ability to display sound judgment and problem solve issues
* Ability to work independently on routine work, with more guidance on new projects or assignments
* Ability to build productive internal/external working relationships
* Ability to follow detailed practices and procedures in order to resolve issues
* Comfortable communicating with clients and tax jurisdictions

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

* Associate degree in accounting, finance or equivalent experience a plus
* Proficient in Microsoft applications
* Internet savvy
