THE ROLE
As a Staff Accountant at Kempower, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the ever-evolving EV market. On a typical day, you'll be helping and preparing for end of month close activities, helping with AR functions, and reviewing contracts with cross-functional teams, making a direct impact on our mission to revolutionize transportation.
In this role you will
* Perform month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Reconcile and review various accounts with the accounting specialist.
* Assist financial controller with Revenue Recognition duties following ASC 606.
* This includes reviewing contracts and preparing Excel worksheets for review.
* Assist in AR duties.
* Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve financial performance.
* Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
* Assist with special projects and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
* Assist VP of Finance with insurance management.
* Sales and Use tax reporting and analysis.
* Various financial platform assistance.

WHAT HELPS YOU SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
* CPA certification or progress towards certification preferred.
* 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or similar industry.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
* Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
As our official company language is English, proficiency in spoken and written English is required; knowledge of Finnish is seen as a plus.
