Job Description:
The School Psychologist assists in determining eligibility and planning appropriate programs to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the School Psychologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the Interlocal and the school districts.

Essential Functions:
1. Conduct appropriate assessments to screen and/or identify eligible students.
2. Maintain assessment skills, as required for the profession.
3. Adhere to professional ethics.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form, in a variety of situations (ie. With students, with school personnel, with administration, with parents, and with community groups).
5. Ability to quickly analyze a situation and develop appropriate responses and interventions.
6. Ability to respond in a timely manner to requests for information.
7. Ability to use current software and web-based programs to perform job responsibilities.
8. Ability to work effectively with other personnel.
9. Assist in planning appropriate behavioral and academic programs to facilitate the personal, social and intellectual development of students.
10. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
11. Ensure that all activities conform to district and Interlocal guidelines.
12. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district, Interlocal, and community.
13. Work effectively with community organizations.
14. Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
15. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
16. Support the value of an education.

17. Support the philosophy and mission of the Interlocal and the school district.

General Responsibilities:
I. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review and re-evaluation process.
2. Participate in the development of student IEPs as needed.
3. Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the Kansas State Department of Education.
4. Demonstrate the ability to function as a consultant and counselor, as needed.
5. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the procedural requirements of both state and federal regulations.
6. Assist curriculum consultants, classroom instructors, and administrators in planning, implementing and evaluating activities to meet student's special needs.
7. Establish and coordinate a network of resources to implement programs appropriate to student needs.
8. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and staff and provide for individual differences.
9. Demonstrate high expectations for students/staff achievement and behavior.
10. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
11. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.
12. Communicate problematic issues with the building Coordinator, as soon as feasible.
13. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
14. Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
15. Maintain regular contact with local and state agencies that provide services to students and their families.
16. Assist with public awareness activities which lead to a better understanding of the needs of exceptional students.
17. Maintain appropriate, confidential student records and provide timely reports.
18. Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies
19. Train, supervise and assist staff as needed.
20. Remain current in new regulations, procedures and instructional/ behavioral strategies.
21. Insure that school district and Interlocal policies are observed during all activities.
22. Obtain advance approval for all special activities and expenditures.
23. Adhere to all district and Interlocal health and safety policies, including precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
24. Establish and individual Professional Development Plan.
25. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Educational Specialist degree from an accredited college/university
3. Current Kansas State School Psychologist certificate/license on file in the central office
4. Successful completion of internship program.
5. Health and inoculation certificate on file
6. Desire to continue career improvement
