About Ace Barnes Hardware - Ace Barnes Hardware is a locally owned family business, with 2 locations both located in Ann Arbor Michigan. We have been in business since 1939. We pride ourselves on providing our community with great customer service and solutions to their needs. General Summary The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Customer Service • Project a positive representation of Ace Barnes Hardware. • Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store. • Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as other team members. • Exceptional customer service skill • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently. • Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively. • Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance. • Able to handle complaints in a positive manner. • Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location. • Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise. Register Operations • Follow all cash register transaction procedures. • Responsible for balancing of register drawer. • Adhere to any Store program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers. • Participate in store and Cashier meetings. • Promote the Ace rewards program to all customers Front End Appearance and Upkeep • Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end. • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change. • Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times. • Call for cart pickups when necessary. • Inform appropriate team member when merchandise returns need to be put away. • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

* Experience in retail, hardware or customer service is a plus, but not a requirement • Provides excellent customer service all the time • Able to work under pressure • Polite and attentive to all customers • Accurate in dealing with number • Works well with others • Must be able to work a flexible schedule of nights, days, weekends and holidays • Able to stand to stand for an extended period of time and lift up to 40lbs.
