GENERAL SUMMARY: The primary role of the Medical Radiographer is using medical imaging equipment to produce images of tissues, organs, bones, and vessels. Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to physician orders.# Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors Takes call according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours. Completes all work before clocking out and leaving, performs all quality control checks, as prescribed. Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination; documents and deviation. Interacts professionally with patients, families, and co-workers to maintain a positive environment. Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer#s instructions. Calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning; cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment; stocks and replenish supplies as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned by the department manager. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an approved school of Radiologic Technology, Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.Must be registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is preferred.#One year of radiologic/imaging/ultrasound experience preferred but not required.
