Job Description

Assistant Director of Community Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring efficient workflow, identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, efficiently managing inventory, and providing excellent customer experience. The Assistant Director of Community Pharmacy supervises and coordinates staff, maintains pharmacy records and oversees compliance with government and agency regulations.

Assistant Director of Community Pharmacy interprets, compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies within regulatory guidelines, company policies and procedures. The Assistant Director of Community Pharmacy provides counseling to patients regarding the effective use of medications, importance of adherence, awareness with drug interactions, and offers preventive healthcare services such as immunizations.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities.
• Supervises pharmacy staff and oversees the practice of all daily pharmacy operations.
• Organizes and directs workflow within the pharmacy department.
• Partner with Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy District Manager with staff hiring, training, and coaching, and identifies developing talent within the pharmacy.
• Fulfills preceptor duties and facilitates professional development for pharmacy students, interns and/or residents.
• May coordinate the work of a small group to accomplish a project or assignment.
• Responsible for ensuring pharmacy is meeting key performance indicators, as well as analyzing performance trends and identify areas of opportunity.
• Reports any needs or inefficiencies within the department to Pharmacy Leadership
• Participates in the preparation and implementation of policies and procedures, and ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance to government regulations and health system standards.
• Participates in quality management and utilization review programs.
• Participates in pharmacy staff in-services and meetings related to systemwide and/or healthcare setting programs.
• Participates an assist in community events such as brown bag, vaccination pods and others as requested by Pharmacy or Health System Leadership.
• Performs any Pharmacy Department related audits and supports accreditation activities where applicable.
• Maintains license om good standing/
• Performs all duties in accordance to pharmacy standard operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
2. Four (4) years of satisfactory full-time experience as a licensed practicing Pharmacist, of which at least two (2) years shall have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity in a Pharmacy in a hospital, health or medical facility.
