Our client is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. They provide premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies and commercial clients.

We have an immediate opening for a CWL Test & Evaluation Specialist responsible for identifying, analyzing, and documenting software, firmware, and hardware defects and collaborating with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Contract Duration: 12 months or longer
Pay: $52.28/hour

Note: Due to the nature of work all candidates must be US Citizens. Department of Defense Secret security clearance is REQUIRED

Duties and Responsibilities:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Test & Evaluation Engineer to join our dynamic team. Our client leads the charge in designing, developing, producing, integrating, and sustaining the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) on both U.S. and Australian submarines, as well as the Multi-Tube Weapon Simulator (MTWS) on U.S. and Foreign Military submarines. Our client's dedicated CWL and MTWS team collaborates closely with the Navy, internal production teams, and industry partners to ensure the flawless delivery and operation of these critical systems in laboratory and submarine environments.

This position is 100% on-site and located in Manassas, Virginia
  • Crafting comprehensive test procedures.
  • Proficiently utilizing electrical measurement tools, such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Conducting Verification and Validation for corrective changes.
  • Performing installations, rip-outs, testing, and validation of tactical systems.
  • Assisting in configuring the lab in accordance with relevant drawings and port maps.
  • Supporting informal and formal test events, as well as other customer-driven test activities.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and documenting software, firmware, and hardware defects and collaborating with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Supporting the Logistics team in the development of installation and operation procedures.
  • Employing a professional and confident approach when working with various engineering groups and external entities to define, document, analyze, conduct, and interpret tests.
  • Identifying functional issues and proposing effective resolutions.
  • Operating in a fast-paced, integrated product development team comprising professionals from multiple contracting organizations and DoD laboratory entities.
  • Developing and analyzing test cases while providing regular progress updates.
  • Reporting to a manager, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy in your work.
  • Some travel required (in support of test events in government labs, as well as shipboard installations in domestic and international locations).

Required Education and Experience:
  • Requires a Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience).
  • Requires an additional 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of job-related experience.
  • Navy experience as a Submarine Fire Control Technician (FT) or similar (ST, ET, or IT) or Surface Navy experience working in similar rates.
  • 5-10 years of experience with AN/BYG-1, AN/BQQ-10, AN/BLQ-10, or Submarine Weapon Launchers, or comparable combat systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Proficiency in software testing and analysis.
  • 5-10 years of experience with AN/BYG-1, AN/BQQ-10, AN/BLQ-10 or Submarine Weapon Launchers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • General knowledge of network configurations, operations, and commands.
  • Navy or Submarine experience is a valuable asset.
