Responsibilities

* Demonstrates the histotechnological, general laboratory and computer skills required in the anatomical pathology laboratory; may include microtomy skills, routine special and histochemical stains, continuing education of self and peers, and quality control and assisting in the advancement of new technology.
* Demonstrates knowledge of and upholds applicable laws and regulations related to position.
* Wears appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by lab area. Reports spills and hazardous situations immediately and acts appropriately. Follows established guidelines for disclosure of patient information.
* Performs preventive maintenance and quality control with appropriate documentation and communication.
* Participates in continuous improvement programs within the department including participating in quality assurance, continuing education programs, department meetings, and special projects as assigned.
* Promotes a cohesive work environment and identify resolutions to improve morale.

Qualifications

Education Requirement:

* Registered HT (ASCP) or Associate's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, preferred.

Certifications:

* Registered HT (ASCP) preferred.

Skills:

* Demonstrated problem solving skills to resolve technical, computer, and customer service issues.
* Strong sense of accountability and ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize work.
* Effective communication skills.
* Maintains knowledge of techniques, procedures, and protocols, lab-wide and within lab section.
* Experience:
* 1 year of experience, preferred.
