Description:

An ultrasound technician uses ultrasound technology to monitor medical conditions in the body. These professionals operate ultrasound equipment to create an image of the area of a patients body to determine causes of illness and injury, monitor fetal health during pregnancy and provide additional insight into patient health so physicians and medical providers can evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in their care

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed methods of ultrasound technique.
  • Produces diagnostic images using Doppler, abdominal or pregnancy ultrasound.
  • Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field and other specifications of test.
  • Assists physician with ultrasound guided biopsies and/or invasive procedures.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment.
  • Assists with transporting patients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification or ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) license
  • Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Vaccinated for Influenza, seasonal
  • Vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
