Payroll Assistant

Summary
* Provide high level support to the Payroll Manager.
Essential Functions
* Work closely with Payroll Manager to administer payroll for 1200+ employees across multiple states.
* Serve as the point of contact for payroll matters ensuring cases are resolved as quickly as possible with a focus on providing superior customer service.
* Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, garnishment, and other information.
* Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
* Provide payroll data to workers compensation carrier.
* Answer employee and supervisors questions regarding payroll, deductions, and accruals.
* Conducts various quality assurance processes.
* Prepare reports for the leadership team as needed.
* Other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, televisions, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires auditory & visual skills and the ability to follow written & oral instructions and procedures.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
Required Skills/Abilities
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
* Ability to prioritize tasks.
* Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Workday Payroll experience is a plus but not required.
Required Education and Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in office administration or related field preferred.
* Payroll experience is required.
