Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY: The primary purpose of your job position is to provide the Imaging Department, Radiologists, Emergency Department providers and staff physicians with the best diagnostic images possible. This is to be done in the most efficient manner possible, always taking care to ensure the comfort and privacy of the patient.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: The following are duties and responsibilities that you will be required to perform. Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. However, it is no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. " Positions patient under x-ray equipment, adjusts immobilization devices, use appropriate shielding devices and practice appropriate radiation protection procedures. " Administer contrast agents orally or intravenously under the direction of a provider. " Use an appropriate radiation technique and exposure factor to acquire quality images with the least amount of exposure to the patients. " Assist in treating diseased or affected areas of the body, under the supervision of a physician. " Files, reports and maintain records of service rendered. " Makes minor service adjustments to x-ray equipment. " Ability to move throughout the hospital " Must be able to speak, read and write English in an understandable manner. " Must be physically and mentally able to function under stressful situations. " Must possess sight ***/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be met fully. " Must possess ability to work harmoniously with professional and nonprofessional personnel as well as patients, visitor and the general public. " Make sure there is an adequate amount of Computed Radiology cassettes, films for Dry Laser, contrast agents or other necessary materials, supplies or equipment as may be needed to perform all requested procedures exams. Inform supervisor otherwise. " Maintain knowledge of radiologic procedures and perform in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. " May specialize in acquiring x-rays and CT of specific areas of the body. " Must help maintain the care, inventory and use of supplies and equipment throughout the Radiology Department and hospital. " Have a referral for all x-rays requested by the attending providers in a manner as to provide the best diagnostic images with the least amount of discomfort to the patient. " Answers departmental telephones and take messages. " Schedule procedures for all the modalities " Scan reports, worksheets and referrals into PACS. " Use the tele radiology vendor to transmit images to and receive dictated reports from. " Use Hospital Information System (HIS) to attach a report to and track timecard entries. " Insure the procedure rooms are neat, clean and ready before patients are brought in for their procedures. " Participate in annual inventory. " Develop working knowledge of radiology equipment, mobile x-ray and c-arm. For use in the on the Medical floors, Surgery and Emergency Department. " Be knowledgeable and participate in patient registration procedure, validate images, requisitions and other pertinent paperwork for billing. " Mix and prepare bariums and contrast agents for procedures. " Transport patients to and from the radiology department as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: " Attend annual updates for safety, etc. as required by personnel policy. Responsible for completeness and accuracy of personnel file documentation. " Provide current Washington State License annually to the Human Resources Department. " Maintain current CPR card and provide a copy to HR department. " Complete annual continuing educational requirements and has a copy available in the DI education binder. " Maintain working knowledge of all hospital emergency, fire, disaster and hazardous chemicals " Observe safe working habits and reports any outstanding issues. " Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality standards. " Maintain confidentiality of all hospital and patient related matters. " Support hospital policy and procedures " Present a positive attitude to peers, the public and the patients " Adhere to dress and appearance standards consistent with position and hospital dress code. " Use hospital resources efficiently and cost effectively. " Other duties as assigned.
