Job Summary/Position Objective

The Mechanic I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of facility machinery.

Key Responsibilities

* Proficiency in basic principles of mechanical troubleshooting and repair (able to perform the task with no supervision)


* Knowledge of the basic principles of (has had training, but has not proven proficiency and sometimes requires supervision of task):


* Inspection and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment


* Mechanical Installation of facility machinery


* Root cause analysis and counter measure


* Product quality analysis


* Preventative maintenance process of facility machinery


* Operation monitoring of facility machinery


* Basic equipment fabrication


* Fabrication of repair parts and solutions


* Troubleshooting and repair of:


* Optical Sortation


* Crushers and Screeners


* Compressed Air and Dryers


* Organic Removal Systems


* Metal Remove (Fe and NonFe)


* Conveyance


* Create and ensure environment of safety for self and others


* Complete daily maintenance and repair logs


* Maintain a clean work area


* Maintain and secure work tools


* Other duties as assigned



Education & Experience Requirements

* High School Diploma/GED preferred


* Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively


* Team player, able to lead and contribute to a team effort


* Excellent communication and people skills


* Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills


* 1-3 years of maintenance experience preferred


* Able to work safely and efficiently


* Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics preferred


* Glass processing knowledge is a plus



Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

* Must be able to perform above listed duties


* Exposure to a dusty and noisy environment that can be very hot or cold


* Required to perform mixture of light, moderate, and heavy physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a productive technical nature.


* Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. 50 % bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb steps. Up to 75% walking or standing required.


* Regularly required to handle tools, machinery equipment, welding equipment, and large and small mechanical parts. Regular fine hand manipulation and required to write and type on a computer keyboard. Manual dexterity required.



M-F, 5am to 3:30pm with occasional work on Saturdays.
