About the Role

The Talent and Optimization Administrator will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, career development, career pathways, and succession planning initiatives within the UNC Health Appalachian system. This individual will have a passion for talent management and optimization, coupled with a strong understanding of healthcare industry dynamics. Responsibilities include:
  1. Talent Acquisition:
    • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent for various positions within UNC Health Appalachian.
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and provide guidance on recruitment best practices.
    • Utilize various recruitment channels, including job boards, social media, and networking events, to source and engage candidates.
    • Conduct interviews and coordinate selection processes to ensure the hiring of qualified candidates who align with the organization's values and goals.
    • Manage recruitment metrics and analytics to track the effectiveness of recruitment efforts and make data-driven decisions.
  2. Career Development:
    • Design and implement career development programs and initiatives to support the growth and advancement of employees within UNC Health Appalachian.
    • Work closely with employees to identify career goals and aspirations and provide guidance on developmental opportunities, such as training programs, certifications, and educational resources.
    • Collaborate with departmental leaders to create individualized career development plans for employees and facilitate their progression within the organization.
  3. Career Pathways:
    • Develop and maintain career pathways frameworks that outline clear trajectories for career advancement within different departments and disciplines.
    • Educate employees on available career pathways and opportunities for professional growth within UNC Health Appalachian.
    • Partner with departmental leaders to identify skill gaps and develop strategies to address them through targeted training and development initiatives.
  4. Succession Planning:
    • Lead succession planning efforts to identify and nurture internal talent for key leadership positions within UNC Health Appalachian.
    • Work closely with senior leadership to assess current and future leadership needs and develop succession plans to ensure continuity and sustainability.
    • Identify high-potential employees and implement strategies to develop and prepare them for future leadership roles through mentorship, coaching, and leadership development programs.


Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in talent acquisition, talent management, or related field, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with recruitment, career development, career pathways, and succession planning initiatives.

Required Registration/License/Certification
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) or other relevant HR certifications are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of talent acquisition best practices, including sourcing, selection, and onboarding.
  • Knowledge of career development principles and strategies, including training and educational resources.
  • Familiarity with career pathways frameworks and succession planning principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactical initiatives to achieve organizational goals.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and talent management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Physical Demands
  • The position may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or computer work.
  • Occasional travel may be required for recruitment events, training sessions, or meetings.

Working Conditions
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to accommodate recruitment events or organizational needs.
