Responsibilities:
* Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems that provide a variety of functions such as heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, circulating and filtering
* Understanding of systems that use various methods of air conditioning such as mechanical and vapor compression, absorption and air cycle
* Supply air conditioning to areas such as warehouses, aircraft hangars, hospitals and large office buildings and complexes
* Maintain the efficiency, reliability and safety of operation of systems by checking performance, diagnosing problems, and making necessary repairs or adjustments or by replacing defective parts
* Check elements such as low side and high side pressure, temperature of the cooling units, pressure and temperature of the liquid and suction lines, and the running time of the various mechanisms
* Repair or replace fans, pumps, thermostats, humidistats, motors, compressors, valves, gauges, pneumatic and electric controls, filters and other related elements
* Install refrigeration and air conditioning systems by positioning compressors, motors, condensers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, evaporators, heaters, and other components in accordance with design specifications
* Install and connect auxiliary control mechanisms and piping or tubing
* Connect recording and gauging devices
* Charge refrigeration systems and tests installation for leaks
* Start unit and adjust it for proper operation and optimum performance
* Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of air conditioning and refrigeration systems including circulating air and chilled water air conditioning systems, high, medium and low temperature refrigeration systems, and total environmental control systems
* Knowledge of the principles and theories of air conditioning and refrigeration as they relate to the refrigeration cycle, heat transfer laws and the use of refrigerant tables
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and technical instructions
* Ability to disassemble, repair and reassemble units such as pumps, compressors, chillers, evaporators, condenser and motors
Education and Experience:
* 5+ years of experience required
* EPA Certification required
* CPR Certification required
* Valid Drivers License required
Physical Requirements:
* Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
* Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times, if a heavier lift is required, it must not be attempted without assistance
* Must be able to work at a rapid pace for a short period of time
* Occasionally required to perform work by stooping, bending and reaching while in cramped and uncomfortable positions and by walking, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
* Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds to perform work at various heights
* Normal vision is required
