Position Summary:

Works with the Athletic Director to promote education-based athletics while supervising, observing, and evaluating coaching positions and the athletic program.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Promote education-based athletics and an active athletic program that promotes sportsmanship, facilitates an athlete's development as an important educational experience.
  2. Desire to build athletic programs and schedules that place Carroll's student athletes in highly competitive situations through preparation and team schedules.
  3. Assist in creating a branded, timely, and positive presence on social media to celebrate all sports.
  4. Interview, select and provide orientation for non-teaching coaches. Provide professional growth of coaching staff through participation in workshops, in-service, and professional conferences.
  5. Observe coaches at practices, sporting events, etc. Observe and evaluate coaches to make recommendations in terms of job expectations.
  6. Arrange event staffing for approximately 80-100 home events each year while creating and leading a safe and secure environment for all involved.
  7. Arrange payment for all event workers, officials, non-teacher, and supervisors. Responsible for the safekeeping of deposits (tickets, concessions, Gameday Store).
  8. Assist with the scheduling of all Athletic Department Transportation. Including notification of departure times to the Transportation Department and Coaches.
  9. Assist in providing all necessary individuals, including the custodial staff, a copy of the facility schedule to minimize the conflict between groups competing or practicing concurrently.
  10. Assist with the scheduling of facilities to be used by, but not limited to, the following: athletic teams, speech and debate, academic competitions, music /color guard, and academic purposes such as ISTEP.
  11. Assist in creating a welcoming and "big time" event experience at all Carroll Charger events.
  12. Assist in creating and expanding contracted sponsorships for the greater good of the athletic program.
  13. Demonstrate a tireless approach to building positive relationships with staff and game officials.
  14. Purchase and maintain all equipment and uniforms for athletics.
  15. Responsible for care and scheduling of all facilities.
  16. Help build the direction and focus of the Athletic Department through collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  17. Work with the Natatorium Director to facilitate pool time for swim & dive teams.
  18. Oversee the strength and conditioning program.
  19. Grow a strong relationship among middle school feeders.
  20. Provide college like apparel and support school Game Day stores at Fall and Winter events, with some after school options as well.
  21. Present recommendations for changes in athletic policy to the Principal and Superintendent.
  22. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Including but not limited to, participating in district wide administrative team, attend school board meetings as requested, evaluate assigned teachers, supervision, schedule activity buses, key distribution and others as assigned by the principal.

Job Requirements:

Experience:
Experience and interest in varsity athletics is necessary. Proven leadership experience, and high moral character and integrity. Must have experience and skills in conflict resolution. Administrative license preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to lead others to excel and coach student aged athletes. Effective communication skills, both written and oral. Must have a strong school/community presence and promotional communications. Must be a visionary leader, capable of promoting the school and athletic teams via traditional and electronic means.

Must be knowledgeable of and enforce the rules of the IHSAA, as well as being actively engaged in the IIAAA and NIAAA.

Familiar with and capable of learning and using software programs that support athletics, such as Final Forms, Eventlink, Neptune Gametime, Gipper, sound systems and basics of live streaming equipment.

Team player with strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public. Must have strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate programs. Ability to take direction, with initiative and dependability in carrying out assignments. Clerical skills, flexibility and confidentiality is required.
