The Anesthesia Technician II is well trained with a minimum of three years experience in anesthesia/surgery with knowledge of anesthesia equipment and supplies. The technician maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies and personnel to facilitate department functions. The technician provides a variety of support services for the anesthesiologist, ranging from administrative and technical to providing basic patient care and support. The Anesthesia Technician II is responsible for consulting the operating scheduling to determine which supplies and equipment to prepare for and for assisting with routine test and procedures, to prepare patients for anesthesia and surgery. An essential part of the Anesthesia Technician II's role in the health care team is setting up equipment and supplies. He/She, under direct supervision, is responsible for assisting the CRNA/Anesthesiologist, pre, intra and postoperatively with pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The technician is responsible for transport, patient care, materials management and environmental responsibilities as assigned. The Anesthesia Technician II is expected to respond to extreme emergencies arising in anesthesia and operating room situations. Must be able to get along well with and execute orders from doctors by anticipating the needs of the physician and patient to obtain desired outcomes. Anesthesia Technician II demonstrates speed and timeliness in all duties, particularly in preparation for emergencies and trauma procedures. Responds to nurses and peers under all conditions without adding to the stress of critical situations. Anesthesia Technician II provides training and orientation to staff and newly hired personnel ie: Anesthesia Technician I.

Requires strong organizational skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Anesthesia Technician must complete a six-month to one-year, full-time training period before they are able to perform independently or take emergency call.

Requires a strong healthcare experience or background with a minimum of 3 years of experience.

Requires ASATT or similar certification, CPR, EKG, and Phlebotomy certification within three months of hire.

Prior Anesthesia Technician with a minimum of 3 years experience is preferred.

Course work in a biological science program with certification of ASATT or similar certification is preferred.

3-5 years of experience in an Operating Room environment preferred.
