About the Facility – California State Prison-Corcoran
CSP-Corcoran is a complex, multi-mission institution comprised of the following facilities: Level I, Level III, Level IV, Administrative Segregation Unit, Security Housing Unit, Protective Housing Unit, General Population, Prison Industry Authority, a fully licensed Correctional Treatment Center, Long Term Restricted Housing and Enhanced Program Facility.

California Correctional Health Care Services designated COR a "basic care” institution. Basic care institutions maintain a generally healthy patient population with the capability of providing specialty medical services. We maintain 50 licensed beds in our Correctional Treatment Center (CTC), 24 Mental Health Crisis Beds (MHCB), and 14 beds in out Outpatient Housing Unit (OHU). August 16, 2015, COR received national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections. This accreditation program is based on national standards set by the American Correctional Association.

Psychologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The Psychologist assesses inmates' mental health needs and suggesting treatment plans based on their criminal, psychological, and substance abuse histories.
  • Talking with mentally ill inmates to help them during crises, group therapy, or one-on-one meetings, sometimes at their cell fronts.
  • Using psychological tests to understand inmates better and provide appropriate care.
  • Keeping detailed records of all interactions with inmates and attending team meetings.
  • The Psychologist monitors inmate progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation FORMATTED PROGRESS NOTES.
  • Teaching inmates about mental health and creating resources for them, especially those with mental illness or who are sex offenders.
  • Sharing patient information with relatives only if they've given permission.
  • The Psychologist makes sure the facility stays safe and orderly, preventing escapes or harm to anyone.
Psychologist - REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree: Must have a PhD. or PsyD.
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by the American Psychology Association with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Experience: Need at least one year of full-time experience in the last three years working as Psychologist.
  • Internship/Residency: Successfully complete an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
  • Licensure: Must have a full, unrestricted license to practice in the state of California.
