The County Attorney's Office seeks a full-time Administrative Specialist to support the Collections Team and Administrative Team involving a variety of tasks related to finance, tax and local government law.  

 

The successful candidate will represent the County Attorney's Office while working under the supervision of Administrative Coordinator.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

This position will assist in creating and maintaining electronic files for the Collections Team using several databases, working collectively in a team environment, assisting with administrative support for the office, preparing warrants in debt for filing for the Finance Department, Housing and Department of Social Services, securing judgement abstracts and following up to confirm they are properly recorded, preparing post judgement garnishments for Department of Social Services, Housing PWSIG and property code, processing and disseminating bankruptcy checks received by Trustees, assisting with subrogation matters, providing administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, and assisting the Administrative Team with daily office telephone coverage and administrative tasks. KNOWLEDGE:

Facets of legal collections work, Customer service principles; Principals and practices in assigned area, Departmental functions, Policies and procedures; Applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and or statutes; Modern office equipment and procedures; Recordkeeping principals; Budgetary concepts; Mathematical concepts; Document review techniques; Filing systems; Computers and related software applications.  

 

SKILLS

Providing customer service; Monitoring and maintaining administrative budgets; Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations; Maintaining records and files; Processing information utilizing established procedures; Preparing correspondence, memos and/or other related information; Assembling and organizing data and information; Performing data entry; Using modern equipment; Using a computer and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

 

LEVEL OF DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITY 

Responsibilities typically require adaptation of procedures, processes, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the specialized requirements of the position.

DIRECTION RECEIVED / DIRECTION PROVIDED

Incumbents are provided with organizational strategy, goals, and objectives to oversee the assigned departments or functions.   Incumbents provide strategic direction for function(s), department(s), or other work area(s) policies, strategies, goals, and procedures.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of administrative experience in conjunction with legal collections knowledge.  

PREFERENCES: 

* Experience with local law office
* Experience in variety of tasks related to finance, tax and local government law. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of finance, tax, collections, bankruptcy and local government preferred.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

WORK SCHEUDLE:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (*7.5 hour work day - 1.0 hour lunch break)

 

Hiring Salary Range: $25.44 - $36.98 Hourly
