*We are currently seeking experienced, full-time LPNs in Myrtle Beach, SC. *This position is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; Monday-Friday.

*Qualifications/Credentials: *Maintain a current South Carolina State LPN License. Clear criminal background check. Available for medical emergencies. Professional interactions with fellow employees, residents, medical professionals, governmental agents and parents. Pass training requirements. Able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communications, able to work effectively with all staff members. Display honesty, integrity and a commitment to the mission of Coastal Autism Academy.

*Position Summary: *Responsible for assisting in medical care of all residents, including scheduling and accompanying residents to medical appointments, assessing injuries and illnesses, and treating minor injuries or illnesses. Along with the Health Care Tech or by providing directive to the Health Care Tech ensures each resident has accurate and up to date medical records of all attended clinical appointments, including medical, dental, vision, psychiatric, or medical specialty. Schedules all medical appointments for residents and maintains a calendar of upcoming appointments. In some instances, requests assistance from the Program Director to ensure all residents are accompanied as per policy at medical appointments. Compiles all discharge paperwork following medical appointments to maintain accurate medical appointment charts. Responsible for prepping all nursing paperwork for new admissions. Maintaining all up-to-date information in medical notebooks in the nursing office, including copies of referral sheets, guardian contact info, copy of Medicaid card, etc. Ensure all paperwork is prepared in advance of medical appointments. Assists with audits and prepares reports as needed, including DSS and DDSN visits and requests for nurses’ notes, auditing medications, and the med cart, auditing MARs, etc. Scans all medical paperwork, including MARs, and nurses and doctor’s notes into an electronic medical file for the resident. Prints and sets up the monthly communication logbook. Responsible for filing paperwork, answering calls, the front door, etc. Responsible for filling in nursing duties for the RN in his/her absence. Administers medication to residents. Assists the RN in keeping the nursing office organized and clear of clutter. Responsible for ordering nursing/medical supplies with approval by the Registered Nurse. Maintains the med cart, doing regular audits and keeping it well stocked. Takes care of all mail for the Nursing department, including routing to the appropriate places to ensure bill payment, including faxing and calling caseworkers, doctor’s officed, etc. Works on the floor as Direct Care Staff as needed. Checks on Residents to ensure no injuries, on a continual basis or if required in an emergency.

*Responsibilities:*
* Supervise Health Care Tech
* Prepare/administer resident’s medications and treatments in accordance with state regulation and facility policy.
* Initiate and retain the resident’s medical records in accordance with facility procedures.
* Make informative entries in the progress notes that reflect the care provided and the resident’s response to that care.
* Provide basic nursing care to the residents, including but not limited to blood pressure, temperature, weight, heart rate, basic hygiene, cutting nails, providing basic first aid etc.
* Keep staff members informed of the status of clients and other related matters through written and oral reports.
* Schedule, maintain and accompany residents to medical appointments such as well-child visits, dental visits, vision appointments, surgeries, etc.
* If necessary, observe and establish processes and procedures for Med passing and documentation
* Consult with physicians as needed for treatments, medications etc.
* Coordinate with the pharmacy to fill and pick up prescriptions.
* Notify physician, family and staff when there is a change in the client’s condition.
* Train identified staff on med distribution, inventory and narcotic drug procedure
* Facilitate and/or monitor monthly check in of medications, that all medications are received and appropriately put in the med room. Monitor inventory and narcotic medication procedures-based off state regulations
* Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
* Act as an emergency responder for the facility.
* Act as a role model for all staff demonstrating a high standard of service that supports the organization’s mission and values.
* Practice high standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the nursing department.
* Partake in admission/discharge process of residents

*Training Modules that must be completed online:*
* Bloodborne Pathogens
* RBT Training
* Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
* Defensive Driving (Annually)
* CPI provided upon hiring and on an annual basis
* CPR
* Additional Regulatory Training as required

*Skills:*
* Proven experience as LPN
* Successful completion of LPN license program is a must
* Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
* Familiarity with patients who have autism or an intellectual disability, health, safety and sanitation standards and procedures
* Understanding of confidentiality obligations and Nursing best practices
* Excellent knowledge of medical and hospital terminology
* Good knowledge of MS Office and data entry
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Compassionate and able to handle stress, hard to handle adolescents

*Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:*
* Will be exposed to physical and verbal aggression by residents.
* Work environment includes school, residential setting, outside and off campus.
* Regularly required to stand, walk, run and sit. Physically able to bend/stoop, squat, push/pull, reach above and below shoulder level.
* Physically able to lift up-to 50 lbs.
* Must be able to pass all background checks: SC Law Enforcement, Dept. of Social Services Abuse and Neglect, National Sex Offender Register, and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
