Job Description

The Lead Fleet Technician’s primary purpose is to oversee the Fleet Shop, Technicians and ensure completion of preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment including gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air brakes, tankers, and trailers.



 



Reporting Location: Norcross, GA



Schedule: Monday to Friday 2:00PM to 10:30PM (Flexible)



Compensation: $35/hour + 6%-8% of base hourly rate shift differential paid for applicable hours worked



Travel Required: Every other Month to Greenville, SC & Charleston SC

Key responsibilities 



Troubleshooting and repairing fleet vehicles and equipment

Programing and recording assigned preventative maintenance tasks

Assisting in education of the Route Sales Representatives’ pre and post-trip inspections

Receiving and processing invoices for payment for multiple locations and dealing with vendors

Maintaining parts inventory and budgets

Ensuring safe work practices Oversee Fleet Technicians and provide direction as assigned by Lead Technician

Help schedule and support all work within the shop

Coordinate training

Manage costs according to budget and daily completion of repairs

Ensure DOT compliance

Program and record assigned preventative maintenance tasks

Maintain shop housekeeping standards and prepare end of month reporting and/or any other administrative requirements



 



Qualifications

Requirements/Qualifications:



· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience



· Minimum of seven years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance



· Accredited vocational / trade school certification preferred



· Ability to handle physical requirements including but not limited to repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting up to 60 pounds in all work conditions (indoor and outdoor), with or without a reasonable accommodation



· A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record



· Ability to secure and maintain a CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement within specified period



· Ability to secure and maintain T4 (airbrake) certification within specified period



· Must possess professional tools to perform required tasks for the position



· Self-motivated and capable of working independently without direct supervision



· Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, Electronic Diagnostic Tools, and Electronic Maintenance Database applications



· Strong customer service and communication skills
