The Emergency Department Registrar plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of the emergency department by managing patient registrations and facilitating their care. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The registrar will interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to gather essential information while maintaining a compassionate approach.

*Responsibilities*
* Register patients upon arrival in the emergency department, ensuring accurate and complete medical documentation.
* Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
* Assist with specimen collection processing as required, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
* Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate timely patient care, particularly in cases of infectious disease care and behavioral health.
* Maintain an organized workflow within the department, supporting the needs of a Level II Trauma Center.
* Utilize Athenahealth software for efficient data entry and management of patient records.
* Provide support during IV infusion procedures as needed, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
* Collaborate with nursing staff and other departments to streamline emergency medicine processes.

* Proficiency in medical documentation practices, particularly within an emergency medicine setting.
* Knowledge of infectious disease care protocols and behavioral health considerations.
* Ability to lift patients or assist them as needed during registration processes.
* Familiarity with specimen collection processing techniques.
* Experience working in an ER environment or similar high-pressure settings is preferred.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
* Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
