Production Lead This position requires a person with strong leadership skills whois self-motivated and has a positive energized effect on others. This personwill be a role model for safety, quality, 6S, and for taking ownership fordelivering results.This position is aworking cell leader who will be contributing at least 75 percent of timemanufacturing product. Success will be measured by year after year improvementsin safety, quality, on time delivery. Who are we? Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Performance Center in Carson, CA is the Engineered Products Group site for our Human Machine Interface, Motion Control Device, and Radio Frequency (RF) product lines.Job SummaryMaintainproduction flow and inform Operations Manager of any problems meetingproduction goals.Identifyproduction delays in order to minimize the overall manufacturing cycle and assign necessary personnel to completeproduction requirements.Assignment ofdaily work tasks and priorities to employees in the department.Resolution ofquality, material and work instruction issues.Be responsiblefor and monitor the progress of the daily care and upkeep of equipment andtools used in the work area.Lead 6S effortsand set the example for all employees to follow.Provideexcellent workmanship guidance, direction and promote employee involvement inimprovement programs and support of Company goals.Work with theengineering staff to resolve process and quality issues.Providetraining to employees as required.Represent andadvocate for the Company by following and enforcing the documented Companypolicies.Track employeeperformance over the evaluation period in order to provide substantive inputinto the annual evaluation documentation.Provideperformance feedback from employees working in the department.Develop andimplement countermeasures and action items to effectively address cellperformance issuesCarries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization'spolicies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work andassessing performance.Be responsible for time and attendance in timekeeping system.Must be willing and able to workovertime as necessary (weekends included).Acceptable attendance is an essential function of theposition.Performs other duties as assigned or required bythe position.Required Skills and Qualifications Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Basic word processing and spreadsheet capability required.Good organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.Ability to read and understand specifications and interpret drawings.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus and no color blindness.Must be able to communicate effectively.Annual vision test may be required.Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
