Job Description
The Director of Business Development at Gregory and Appel will be responsible for generating and nurturing leads, building a strong pipeline of potential clients, and supporting the agency's growth objectives. You will work closely with the sales team and management to develop and implement effective business development strategies. You focus on the producers who have books less than 400K on a weekly basis but also work with different verticals to increase sales.

Primary Duties
  • Lead Generation: Actively identify and generate leads through various channels, including networking and cold calling.
  • Client Outreach: Initiate contact withpotential clients, educate them about the agency's insurance offerings, and co-producethe account starting from information gathering to proposing the new businessopportunity.
  • Needs Assessment: Understand the insurance needs of potential clients by conducting thorough assessments and consultations.
  • Solution Presentation: Present tailored insurance solutions to potential clients, addressing their specific needs and providing them with the information required to make informed decisions.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective clients, ensuring their needs are met while demonstrating the agency's commitment to exceptional service.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market developments to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales team to transition leads into clients and assist in the onboarding process. You will be involvedfrom start to finish on accounts.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of lead interactions and progress and provide regular reports to the management team.
  • Producers: Spend 4 days a month per "unvalidated producer" working on lead generation, cold calls, and time management. These will be 90%outbound calls.
Experience and Skills
Qualifications

Years of Experience:
  • 7 years of commercial lines experience, in a business development or sales role, preferably within the insurance industry.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree; or combined equivalent years of education and experience
License, Certification, or Registration:
  • P&C License is required for Commercial Lines
Additional Information:
  • Previous sales experience within a sales department in an independent agency environment strongly recommended
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, express enthusiasm, and be flexible desired
  • Previous successful sales roles desired, either within or outside the insurance environment
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
