Do you take great photos? Are you able to capture video for social media?
The Middlebury Institute Marketing and Communications department is seeking a graduate assistant for the fall semester with an option to extend. We want your creative skills Most weeks, we need photo and video captured for our social media and we need someone who could go to a mix of events and gatherings, often in the late afternoon/evening and occasionally on weekends. Most of this work could be executed on a smartphone with a high-quality camera.
Required: Experience taking photos and videos
Basic photo editing skills (fixing color, exposure, cropping)
Desired: Experience creating photo and video content for social media (Instagram, Youtube, TikTok)
Event photography experience
Access to a high-quality DSLR camera with flash (Some events might be indoors with poor lighting)
Estimated hours per week: 1-4
Typical assignments: Capture 10 photos of Welcome Week activities and 3-5 short videos (vertical orientation)
Attend evening event and capture high-quality still photos of the faculty introducing the speaker, 1-2 shots of audience reactions with emotion and a few photos of the panel discussion
Attend art workshop in the garden and pull together a fun Instagram story/reel with photos/video
Take a weekly 1-2 photos illustrating life on campus and Monterey life for our Instagram
Capture video b-roll of campus for social media (vertical orientation)
This is a level B position.
Student Employment Eligibility: Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus. Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions. Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component.
Hour Limitations: All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
