Are you an experienced pharmacist open to using your skills in a publications and content development environment? Our client has a unique and challenging opportunity for a Senior Manager, Publishing, to join their growing team. As Senior Manager, Publishing, you will serve as a subject matter expert for the Publishing department by participating in issue planning, content creation, and assisting with production for our client’s monthly trade publication. You’ll also participate in content evaluation and development of new technology for content design.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manager of monthly publication for pharmacy professionals and practitioners
- Leads/participates in the monthly issue planning call with the editor-in-chief, suggesting appropriate copy for each issue.
- Leads and participates in art meetings with Creative Services
- Writes New & Approved and at least two clinical or practice stories for each issue.
- Collaborates with the editorial team to proofread drafts to ensure accuracy and alignment with pharmacy best practices, providing pharmacist perspective on content.
- Assists with production steps, including setting up the production planner, creating the imposition, and editing content within InCopy.
Digital Publishing/electronic resources
- Leads/participates in the review process for all content.
- Serves as a liaison to authors, including coaching authors on procedures, house style, and content-delivery preparation.
- Leads/participates in marketing and promotion activities to ensure the publication of high-quality content and the promotion of content that aligns with the mission and provides an ROI to the association.
Technology
- Investigates new technology for content delivery, including AI, online content, and apps.
- Participates in implementing new technology for delivering APhA content, including working with DIS and app developers.
- Works with DIS and Creative Services to ensure that the online version of all content meets the needs of pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy teams.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school or college of pharmacy. Post-graduate training is preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance standards.
- Proven experience in pharmacology and content creation for pharmacists.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, and plan projects effectively.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with data analytics and performance tracking tools.
- Creative mindset with a keen eye for detail.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and InCopy.
- Proficiency in AI-powered publishing tools and digital content management systems preferred.
