As an ONSITE Quality Assurance Analyst for our exciting client, you will work on implementing and testing software to support a real-time messaging-centric safety system. You will develop and test both server and client .NET applications, ASP.NET websites, and embedded Linux software. You will be working under the direction of a QA Manager. Your job will be to help improve the quality of our client’s software. This includes, but not limited to, designing, and executing manual/automated tests, troubleshooting software/hardware problems, monitoring and maintaining lab infrastructure, performing limited software configuration management activities (ex. make and deploy software builds), providing support to different testing environments (ex. QA, labs, production, general documentation activities (ex. write, review), etc. Part of your work will be manual testing at the user interface level. The software development cycle is hybrid, and you will often be required to help ferret out requirements (user stories) and design test cases/scenarios for them.

To qualify for this role, you must have 7 years of progressively responsible experience in testing, developing and executing test strategies and test cases; 5 year’s experience testing and writing manual test cases for desktop applications (ex. client), websites; and, experience suggesting and implementing QA process improvements. Experience using Azure DevOps pipelines, test plans, test suites, test cases, and software defect management is needed. Experience creating and reviewing new test cases, test case execution and software defect management needed. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Notepad++, PuTTy, and Sharepoint. Automation experience; SQL (1-2 years), especially MS-SQL experience; SharePoint and Linux (embedded) experience are all a strong plus. Experience with configuration management activities and terminology (ex. Trunk/main, branches) needed. Automation (UFT) experience is a plus. SPLUNK experience is also a plus. To be successful, you must have experience and the willingness to troubleshoot problems, including analyzing logs for errors and message flows. Experience working in (and enjoying) a medium documentation, high productivity team is a must. You must be willing to be a team player, working with and helping other team members, and seeking their knowledge and assistance as necessary. You must be a dynamic self-starter who can excel with limited direction. We are not looking for a tester who just wants to run manual or automated tests prepared by someone else. We need someone who can plan testing by engaging different stakeholders and development (including researching of requirements or other sources of information), properly design and execute tests, and report results, with and without additional staff support, to make the biggest improvement possible in software quality. Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills are essential.

A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred. Candidates without such a degree but with extensive professional experience may be considered. Experience with configuration management (ex. Trunk/main, branches) is a plus.

This position is 100% onsite for the first 6 months. After that, some occasional remote work may be approved, but no guarantees.
