Job Summary:The IT Director is responsible for overseeing the Information Technology department, implementing IT policies and strategies, providing technical leadership, developing team members, and collaborating with senior leaders. The role oversees project management, communication, and reporting on technology effectiveness and is responsible for vendor and budget management. They lead technology innovation and improvement on behalf of the organization.
Essential Duties:
- Technical Oversight: Manages and oversees the organization’s IT infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, SaaS solutions, and desktop support. Ensures IT systems' stability, security, and performance to support organizational operations.
- IT Strategy Development: Develops and implements an IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Regularly reviews and updates the IT strategy to adapt to changing technological and organizational needs.
- Team Leadership and Development: Leads, mentors, and develops the IT team to ensure high performance and continuous professional growth. Fosters a collaborative team culture that encourages innovation and excellence.
- Project Management: Plans, executes, and oversees IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope and budget. Collaborates with other departments to ensure IT projects meet their needs and integrate seamlessly.
- Senior Leadership Collaboration: Works closely with senior leadership to understand their IT requirements and provide strategic advice. Communicates IT plans and performance to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Vendor and Budget Management: Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective services. Develops and manages the IT budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement in IT services. Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Security and Compliance: Ensures IT systems comply with relevant regulations and organizational policies.
- Implements and maintains robust cybersecurity policies, procedures, training, and measurements to protect organizational data and systems.
- User Support and Training: Provides technical support to staff and ensures timely resolution of IT issues.
- Develops and delivers training programs to enhance staff IT skills and knowledge.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in case of IT disruptions. Regularly tests and updates disaster recovery procedures to ensure effectiveness.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Assign tasks and projects to IT team members, ensuring that workloads are balanced and deadlines are met. Prioritize IT projects and initiatives based on organizational needs and strategic goals. Set clear performance expectations and goals for the IT team. Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues promptly and effectively. Recognize and reward high performance to motivate and retain top talent.

Experience/Education:
- This role requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business Administration with an emphasis on technology.
- In addition to the education requirement, this position requires a minimum of seven years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be used to satisfy these requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
This position does not require any certificates, licenses, or registrations. With that in mind, the following will be considered and help demonstrate capabilities and equivalent experience:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- CompTIA Security.
Travel Requirement:
- This position requires occasional (6-20% of the position) travel related to the job duties above. Travel will primarily consist of day trips.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, and SaaS solutions.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in network administration, server management, and desktop support.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry.
- Ability to implement and manage Microsoft 365 and Active Directory environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring of IT projects.
- Experience with IT budgeting and resource allocation.
- Competence in managing IT vendors and third-party service providers.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience in strategic planning and aligning IT initiatives with organizational goals.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution and team building.
- Capability to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
