Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides pre-admissions advisement to prospective and newly enrolled students.
- Assists students with residency and the financial aid process while resolving student admissions issues.
- Provides admission, assessment, registration, and program information.
- Uses caseload management technologies to communicate and provide proactive advising to students.
- Participates in recruitment activities and workshops.
- Coordinates career themed events in collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Works collaboratively with high school leadership to develop an annual action plan.
- Assists students with clarifying their career pathway and selecting a program of study.
- Serves on College and campus committees.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in higher education or related field and three (3) years of related experience.
- All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and programs.
- Knowledge of academic advising and career development principles and practices, residency, and financial aid regulations.
- Experience advising students in higher education setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently while taking initiative to create opportunities for recruitment and advising.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to work effectively with a wide range of constituents and to provide high quality support and customer service constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to apply ethics, logic, and critical thinking to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to make evidence-based recommendations using relevant data.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff.
