Job Information:
- Department: Laboratory.
- Scheduled Hours: 0800-1630.
- Shift: Day.
- Working Days: M-F, alternating weekends and holidays.
- Location: Los Angeles, CA.
Job Duties:
Sample Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation and handling of laboratory samples, including specimen collection, processing, and distribution.
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment under supervision. Follow standard operating procedures for equipment use and maintenance.
- Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and reagents. Keep inventory records up-to-date and assist in restocking as needed.
- Enter data accurately into laboratory information systems (LIS) or other record-keeping systems. Assist in maintaining organized and comprehensive documentation.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory glassware, instruments, and equipment. Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist in quality control measures by following established protocols. Report any discrepancies or issues to supervisory staff.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.
- Provide support to laboratory personnel involved in research projects. Follow instructions for experimental procedures and data collection.
- Laboratory Assistants are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required trainings, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in clinical laboratory and/or specimen processing.
- Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- At least 6 months working in hospital.
- Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
- Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months.
- Current Annual Health Clearance.
- Reliable source of transportation.
