JOB SUMMARY: Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare labor & material estimates for structural steel products, projects, or services and provides support to the estimating manager and salesman.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Prepares Itemized lists by reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements.
  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepares scope of work along with all exclusions, clarifications and conditions. Lists all bid documents with dates used in preparation of estimate.
  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard house and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. 
  • Experience may substitute for education.
  • One (1) Year related experience.
  • Working knowledge of engineering and design concepts in the structural steel, and misc. metals industry.
  • PC skills to include the following software: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Structural Steel Estimating software.
